The Season-Long Team Championship

The Season-Long Team Championship is a new concept for tournament golf and NCJT is among the first world-wide to launch such a cool concept for its tournament players. This will be the 2nd season for the NCJT Season-Long Team Championship. All players will be assigned a team and remain on that team for the entire season. Team assignments will be based on hometown and school districts, in hopes to keep school teammates on the same team. At each tournament a certain number of predetermined scores will count toward the team score for that event and points will accumulate to the season-long rankings. A live hole-by-hole leaderboard will make this an exciting event all season long. In the end, one team will be the Team Champion. The golf brand sponsor for the winning team will provide one of the most exciting award packages we have ever offered. Please share with your school teammates to build a strong team!

Big News, JGS & Masters Discounts

Its official, the North Coast Junior Tour and Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour partnership will provide an amazing opportunity for junior golfers seeking a future in college golf or any young player trying to play better in high school golf. Any member of NCJT or GLJGT has the option to play on both tours this summer. The geographic region of the tournament sites are perfect for same day tournament travel. The partnership will host 35 tournaments and 13 JGS events in 2025, this is likely the most under one umbrella in the mid-west.

JGS

JGS means Junior Golf Scoreboard, and events with that designation allow junior golfers to earn a world ranking for college golf recruitment. All JGS events are 36-hole competitions. NCJT and GLJGT combine two back-to-back tournament rounds together to create qualified JGS events. To gain and maintain a world-ranking, a junior golfer must have a minimum of four JGS tournament rounds in their record on the rotating calendar year, and they can be a combination of any JGS events (local to national level events). Here are the factors of how the JGS rankings are computed (see more at JGS).  65% of the formula is the Individual Scoring of the player against the USGA course rating (the rankings use 75% of your best scores). Strength of Finish is 10% of the formula, so how the player places in the field. The last 25% is Strength of Field and it’s difficult to earn a high percentage of this number, unless you play at an elite level and can earn and qualify for national and international championships. The rankings and where a junior golfer can capitalize in the JGS world rankings are misunderstood by many families. Local JGS events like the 13 offered by the NCJT and GLJGT partnership are perfect for most all junior golfers. Shoot low scores and win tournaments, and it doesn’t matter where you play, until you become a dominant player in the region. Over three decades we have seen it all, from 80 shooters that continue to play in AJGA events (costing nearly $1,000 an event with travel) and never getting better. Then there’s the junior who learns to win almost everything locally before stepping up to the next stage (the best example of that type of player, stepped up and up, and became the #1 ranked junior in the world after playing more than 20 NCJT events in his younger days).  This partnership will offer the best playing opportunities in our region and we look forward to having a great tour season.  Please join us and get your game on tour!

April is Masters month!

The Masters Tournament means spring and great tournament golf! To celebrate Masters month and the launch of the NCJT tournament schedule opening for registration, we are offering a discount of $20 off any tournament or a tour membership.  Use code “masters25” at checkout to claim the discount.  The discount code will be good from April 1st to “Master Sunday” April 13.

The Masters Golf Pool

All NCJT or GLJGT members are eligible to enter at no charge. One entry per player and your entry name must match your Shotstat profile to be eligible. Prizes will be determined based on number of participants. Prizes will be tour credit values that can be used toward entry fees. Pool rules – pick 12 players and the top 8 scores count as your team score to par. Due to player withdraws and new qualifiers, the final field could vary up until April 10th (Masters Week Thursday – 1st round). Entries are due by midnight on April 9th. Good luck and enjoy The Masters!

NCJT & GLJGT Partnership Announced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

North Coast Junior Golf Tour and Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour Announce Partnership to Elevate Youth Golf Development

[Cleveland, OH; Erie, PA] – [3/27/2025] – Two, long-time advocates for junior golf are joining forces. The North Coast Junior Golf Tour (NCJT) and the Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour (GLJGT) are excited to announce a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing opportunities for junior golfers through enhanced programming, expanded access to events, and shared resources. This collaboration marks an exciting step in advancing youth golf development and increasing accessibility to the sport for young athletes in the Great Lakes region.

Through this partnership, the organizations will work together to create enhanced competitive playing opportunities, continue initiatives that promote character development, sportsmanship, and skill-building, and provide greater exposure to college golf opportunities.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour to strengthen junior golf and provide young athletes with more opportunities to improve their game and develop as tournament players,” said Tony Milam, Owner and Operator of the North Coast Junior Golf Tour. “This collaboration aligns with our mission to foster growth in youth golf and empower the future of the game.  Additionally, Northwestern Pennsylvania has some of the best conditioned golf courses in the Mid-West and will be a treat for NCJT players to experience”

The Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour shares the same enthusiasm. “The North Coast Junior Tour has been a leader in junior golf in the Great Lakes Region for over three decades. This partnership will allow us to enhance both of our already successful programs and continue to grow the game for the next generation of golf” said Jay Willow of Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour. “Together, we will provide young golfers with an exceptional platform to grow, compete, and succeed.”

Key elements of the partnership include:

  • One Membership: Allowing access to 35 tournaments and 13 JGS events.
  • Expanded Tournament Options: Expanded competition opportunities for junior golfers at various skill levels.
  • Enhanced World Ranking Events: Players will now have access to over a dozen events that will be used for international ranking on the Junior Golf Scoreboard, the place that college coaches go to find their next star recruit.
  • Community Engagement & Leadership Training: Programs fostering sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth.

The partnership between NCJT and GLJGT reflects a shared commitment to growing the game of golf and fostering an environment where young players can thrive both on and off the course.
