Its official, the North Coast Junior Tour and Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour partnership will provide an amazing opportunity for junior golfers seeking a future in college golf or any young player trying to play better in high school golf. Any member of NCJT or GLJGT has the option to play on both tours this summer. The geographic region of the tournament sites are perfect for same day tournament travel. The partnership will host 35 tournaments and 13 JGS events in 2025, this is likely the most under one umbrella in the mid-west.
JGS
JGS means Junior Golf Scoreboard, and events with that designation allow junior golfers to earn a world ranking for college golf recruitment. All JGS events are 36-hole competitions. NCJT and GLJGT combine two back-to-back tournament rounds together to create qualified JGS events. To gain and maintain a world-ranking, a junior golfer must have a minimum of four JGS tournament rounds in their record on the rotating calendar year, and they can be a combination of any JGS events (local to national level events). Here are the factors of how the JGS rankings are computed (see more at JGS). 65% of the formula is the Individual Scoring of the player against the USGA course rating (the rankings use 75% of your best scores). Strength of Finish is 10% of the formula, so how the player places in the field. The last 25% is Strength of Field and it’s difficult to earn a high percentage of this number, unless you play at an elite level and can earn and qualify for national and international championships. The rankings and where a junior golfer can capitalize in the JGS world rankings are misunderstood by many families. Local JGS events like the 13 offered by the NCJT and GLJGT partnership are perfect for most all junior golfers. Shoot low scores and win tournaments, and it doesn’t matter where you play, until you become a dominant player in the region. Over three decades we have seen it all, from 80 shooters that continue to play in AJGA events (costing nearly $1,000 an event with travel) and never getting better. Then there’s the junior who learns to win almost everything locally before stepping up to the next stage (the best example of that type of player, stepped up and up, and became the #1 ranked junior in the world after playing more than 20 NCJT events in his younger days). April is Masters month!
The Masters Tournament means spring and great tournament golf! To celebrate Masters month and the launch of the NCJT tournament schedule opening for registration, we are offering a discount of $20 off any tournament or a tour membership. The Masters Golf Pool
All NCJT or GLJGT members are eligible to enter at no charge. One entry per player and your entry name must match your Shotstat profile to be eligible. Prizes will be determined based on number of participants. Prizes will be tour credit values that can be used toward entry fees. Pool rules – pick 12 players and the top 8 scores count as your team score to par. Due to player withdraws and new qualifiers, the final field could vary up until April 10th (Masters Week Thursday – 1st round). Entries are due by midnight on April 9th.
