Girls 19 & Under
Ava Solak (Chagrin Falls) won the Girls 19 & Under division with 42-44–86. Ava had 8 pars and one in particular boosted her round. On hole #11, Ava hit her second shot so far left it was on #12 tee, she miss-hit her 3rd, but she holed out her 4th shot from 30 yards to save a par. Good thing too, after a good start (+2 thru 7 holes), she went double, double, bogey before the hole out that saved her round. Ava finished one stroke ahead of Keira Chang (Chagrin Falls). Keira went 43-44–87 and had an usually front nine. She didn’t make a par on the front, but had 2 birdies. She finished with an 8 on the par 5 18th and that cost here the victory.
Mini-Tour
Preston Tolnar (Canfield) was impressive again today with a round of 38 (+2) to win the Mini-Tour division. Preston parred the first 6, then went bogey, bogey on two tough holes. He finished strong with par on the par 3, 9th hole.
Boys 15 & Under
Wren Spires (Medina) edged Will Cody (Shaker Hts) by one stroke to win the Boys 15 & under division. Wren shot 38-37–75 and he loaded up with 5 birdies. He played his last 6 holes in one under par, to seal the victory. Will Cody filled his scorecard with par, he had 12 pars and one birdie to shoot 40-36–76. Will was even par on the back nine. Will also won Austin Funk (Medina) was 3rd with 42-42-84. Austin had 8 pars on his round and he drained a couple of putts of over 20 feet.
WRJS #1 – LilPun
Will Cody (Shaker Hts) won the two-day combined with 83-76–159. Wren Spires (Medina) was 2nd with 89-75–164. This competition will be posted the Junior Golf Scoreboard’s World Ranking for junior golfers, which is the #1 junior golfer rankings for college golf recruiting.
