NCJT – Tanglewood Results

Boys 16-19

No Tie for Ty

The NCJT headed to its yearly tour stop at Tanglewood today and it looked like the boys 16 to 19 age group was going to end up another sister kisser (old school slang for a tie in sports). But Ty Roediger (Chardon) said “not so fast my friends” and drained a birdie on the final hole to claim (38-39–77) sole possession of the coveted Champions Trophy. After a steady 2 over par front nine consisting of 7 pars and 2 bogies, Roediger decided to make things interesting, rollercoastering to a three over par second nine that included 2 birdies, a double and a triple. Roediger outlasted challenges from Ralph Zappola (Willoughby) 39-39–78 and Owen Adelman (Chagrin Falls) 39-40-79.

Boys 15 & Under

Creech Scorches Back Nine

Rising St. Ignatius freshman Ryan Creech (Chesterland) was the talk of the 19th hole after a blistering back nine helped him to an easy victory in the boys 15 and Under division. Posting a back nine score of 34 which in included 4 birdies, including three in the final four holes, Creech earned the hardware as the only golfer on the day to finish in red numbers (37-34–71). He finished 9 shots ahead of Iulius Braho (University Heights) who posted matching nines of 40 to finish at eight over par 80.

Girls 19 & Under

Patience Pays Off for Chang

365 days ago, Keira Chang (Chagrin Falls) finished runner-up on the friendly confines of Tanglewood. This year, she would not be denied as her steady improvement throughout the day led to victory in the Girls 19 and Under age group. Chang carded a 14 over par round of 86 after going 45-41 including a final 8 holes of 3 over par golf. Chang bested playing partner Angela Kerwood (Concord) who finished 11 shots off the pace.

NCJT Shot of the Day

Our NCJT Shot of the Day goes to Iulius Braho (University Heights), our runner up in the Boys 15 and Under age division. Braho had a 47 yard dunk on the 11th hole for birdie.

A Championship and A Four-Ball Next Week

A great week of fun on Tour! Don’t Miss it!

The Jim Dawson Match Play at Punderson on June 24-25 is open to all tour members. Two ways to enter: The Qualifier at Pine Ridge on June 19 is the best method. At Pine Ridge your score is used for proper seeding. You must enter both Pine Ridge and the Qualifier to register properly. If you are not playing at Pine Ridge, then enter the Match Play directly (read the info page to get the code).

New sign-ups for Match Play after the qualifier and before Monday, June 23, will be seeded into the bracket based on scoring average. Caddies are permitted at this championship. It’s a single elimination match play competition and one of the coveted championships to win on tour. The code to enter is jimdawson and is included on the tournament info page with lots of important details to learn about this championship.

The JB Four-Ball is one of the most fun events on tour. It’s a better ball of 2 players for 18 holes. It’s played at Quail Hollow on Friday, June 27 and open to all current and former NCJT members. NCJT members can play with anyone at any age they choose. We usually get a number of father-son teams and some former superstars that love to compete for the title. Sign-up today to join the fun!
