NCJT – Signature of Solon

Boys 16-19

And YOU get a trophy, And YOU get a trophy….

If the adage is true, that “Sharing is Caring,” then we may have the most kindhearted group of junior golfers on the planet. No less than four players came away from Signature at Solon victorious in the Boys 16 to 19 age group. 75 was the score to beat to take the trophy. Jackson Sarver (Aurora) (38-37) set the early pace, so early, in fact, that he missed the group photo at the end of the day (see if you can pick him out above). Joining Sarver on the leaderboard two groups later was Jayden Park (Pepper Pike) (39-36) who played his last 10 holes one under par. And like Wednesday at Manakiki, the waiting game began for Park. Andrew Engler (Mentor) came next (39-36) and all eyes were on Wednesday’s Winner, Lincoln Miller (Concord). Miller looked to be coasting to the individual win when he birdied 12, then 13 and then 14 to go two under for the round. Miller (37-38) had difficulties down the stretch to join the group at three over par. Michael Fahey (Wadsworth) finished one back at 36-40–76.

Boys 15 & Under.

Chluda Hangs Out and Hangs On.

Eat a hot dog, watch The Open and keep refreshing the live scoreboard on ncjt.org. That was the routine for about 20 minutes for Luke Chluda (Hudson) (39-41) as all eyes were on Aiden Tong (Pepper Pike) (38-43) after Chluda posted the clubhouse lead at 8 over par 80. It looked like another shared title until a Tong bogey on 18 gave Chluda his first NCJT win. Iulius Braho (University Heights) finished third with an 88.

Girls 19 and Under

Steady as She Goes.

Golf is a game of avoiding big numbers and that’s just how Ava Solak (Chagrin) drew it up enroute to a victory in the Girls 19 and Under age division. Making no worse than a bogey in her round and playing the second nine in three over par helped Ava coasted to a comfortable win with a 9 over par round of 42-39–81. Maggie Kothera (Kirtland) and Angela Kerwood (Concord) were second and third in the divsion.
