The Joe Haase Cup was played at Firestone CC (North) yesterday. It was a great Mother’s Day, kicked off by the annual Mother’s Day brunch in the morning. The weather was a mix of sun and clouds, the winds were steady at 15 to 20 mph, which made it feel much cooler than the 65 degree temperature reached as the day’s high. The North Coast team was looking good and anxious to get started, but we were able corral the team together for a team photo before the official warm-up began.
The NCJT team was on fire early in the cup matches and took an early lead over the 3 other teams in the competition. NCJT 10, NOPGA 6, Southwest 4 and Lake Erie 2. The early lead was gained by some big wins from the boys, who went on to win 23 of their 36 available points. Those are very strong numbers when compared to NOPGA, were their boys won 24 of their 36 available points. Shortly thereafter NOPGA started to make its move… taking the lead at NOPGA 14, North Coast 12, Southwest 6 and Lake Erie 2. From that point NOPGA never looked back. The big difference in the competition occurred in the girls, as the NOPGA girls won all 12 available points which carried them to a big margin of victory.
