NCJT – Two Week Countdown

We are two weeks from the season kickoff!

In less than two weeks, the North Coast Junior Tour will begin its 32nd tour season and we hope you will be joining us for all the exciting action of being on tour. The kickoff event will be at Little Mountain CC on Tuesday, June 6. Little Mountain is ranked as one of the best courses in Ohio for more than 20 years and is a tour favorite. Our 2nd tour stop will be at Punderson, another great venue, on Wednesday, June 7.

Some things to remember about tour season:

  • Pairings/Tee Times are posted 2-3 days prior to events, contestants are responsible to view the pairings list and know their tee time. To avoid penalty or disqualification, all players should report in at event registration and arrive at their starting tee 10 minutes prior to their published tee time.
  • All players need to have the Shotstat Live Scoring app downloaded and ready to use before attending their first event of the season. See instructions here.
  • Live Hole-by-Hole Scoring (a spectator favorite) will be viewable worldwide at every Stroke Play event
  • Pairings and Live Scoring can be found in the Hot Topic Boxes that show-up on top of NCJT’s homepage when tee times are posted and when Live Scoring is active.
  • Practice rounds are on your own
  • Range balls are the players responsibility at most events, check with the golf shop for details
  • Caddies are only allowed at Championships and Invitationals (Permitted at all Mini-Tour event)
  • A Late Entry Fee ($8) will begin one week prior to events (so enter early, at least one week prior to event day)
  • Late entries are accepted up until 4pm – one day prior
  • Membership packets this year will include a personalize Water Bottle & Bag Tag, a sleeve of logo’d Taylor Made balls, and a Mouse Pad with the tour schedule. Member packets will be handed out at your first event. We plan to have all packets ready for all contestants on the pairings list. If you are not playing, but want to stop by to pick-up your packet, please make sure to email tmilam@ncjt.org and let us know you plan to come for your packet at least 48 hours prior to tournament day. 8am to 10am will be the pick time frame for non-contestant pick-up.
  • Withdrawal from an event – only method is to email your request to tmilam@ncjt.org
  • Review the Tour Manual for all tournament policies
  • Full details on awards and points are detailed in the Tour Manual
  • WRJS events are add-on events for JGS World Ranking status, see Tour Manual for details

We are excited to get started and we hope to see you on tour soon! Start getting your entries in and practice up for a great golf season!

Joe Haase Cup & Spring Golf

The Joe Haase Cup (Final Results) April 22, 2023 at Firestone CC (North)

Jackson Pinney (Boys 16&U) was the leading point earner for NCJT with 32 points. Jackson had 2 birdies and shot 76. Domenic Pilla (Boys 17-19) had 29 points for NCJT and shot 79. Ella Wong and Charlie Pollock had 28 points each for NCJT. Even though we had some of the top players in the competition it wasn’t enough to pull the NCJT team up to the top of the leaderboard this year. The Central Ohio Golf Academy had a great day and won the Joe Haase Cup for the first time. NCJT has 6 cup titles and is titled with N. Ohio PGA for the most Cup wins. NCJT’s last cup win was in 2019.

Spring Golf is in full swing!

We hope everyone is out playing and practicing in the spring golfing weather. 80’s one day and 40’s the next… pretty much sums up spring golf. Many courses have great conditions and we encourage our juniors to get out and practice up for the upcoming tournament season. NCJT will host it’s opening day on Tuesday, June 6th at Little Mountain CC. One of the top courses in greater Cleveland and it’s less than 6 weeks away. Please get your membership registration complete and signup for some of our great tournament venues.

Contest Winners – March Madness and The Masters

  • Hamilton Miller won the March Madness contest for a $50 tour credit
  • Liam Siko won The Masters contest for a $40 tour credit
  • Ryan Diffenbacher won 2nd in the Masters contest for a $20 tour credit

The JB Four-Ball is Friday, June 23 at Quail Hollow

This event is for current and former players and probably the most fun event of the season. It’s also a great Alumni reconnect event and here’s why. Any former player (all the way back to 1992) is eligible to partner with anyone they want, so two alumni can partner up, or an alumni can partner with a current golfing buddy. Their are many ways to build your two-man team. See the complete details here. It’s a 10:30 AM Shotgun with a steak fry dinner at Sunny Street Cafe after golf. Get your team together for some big fun!

NCJT Results – Tour Championship (Final)

July 28-29, 2022 at Quail Hollow CC

Boys 16-19

Ryan Chipps (Painesville) won the Boys 16-19 division at Quail Hollow shooting 68-68–136 (-6). Ryan played an outstanding two rounds of golf, shooting his career low tournament score and won with a 16 stroke margin of victory. He began his opening round shooting a 68 with six birdies (five birdies on the back nine). Ryan made par on his opening hole of the second round, then went on to make three consecutive birdies to get to (-3) through 4 holes (-6) for the tournament, shooting 31 on the front nine. Ryan made double bogey on the par five, 13th hole but made up for it with two more birdies to shoot even on the back. Ryan had 11 birdies for the championship. James O’Neill (Beachwood) finished second place with scores of 76-76–152 (+10). James was in third place to start the day, and shot 34 (E) on the front nine, making two birdies and two bogeys. James made eight birdies for the championship. Jackson Kubic (Shaker Hts) finished in third place with a 77-78–155 (+13). Jackson made two birdies in his round and had a strong finish, shooting (-1) in his last five holes. Jackson won a scorecard playoff over Domenic Pilla and Sven Neilsen.

Boys 15 & Under

Jackson Pinney (Hunting Valley) also had a dominating victory in the Boys 15 & Under division with scores of 69-69–138 (-4) and won by 36 strokes. It was another career best day for Jackson, making five birdies in his final round. Jackson’s first round 69 was the first time he ever broke 70 in his life, then he followed that up with another 69 on back to back days. That was some amazing golf. He made a total of nine birdies for the championship. Lincoln Miller (Concord) finished in second place with scores of 88-86–174.

Girls 19 & Under

Kate Petersen (Chardon) won the Girls 19 & Under division with scores of 81-84–165 (+13). Kate played strong from tee to green, but the putter wasn’t matching up with her full swing game. She had a successful season on tour, winning 4 events. Elena Varga (Hudson) finished second with scores of 97-90–187.

Mini Tour 12 & Under

Hamilton Miller (Concord) wins the first ever Mini Tour Championship division at Quail Hollow with a score of (47). Hamilton made a great par on the 15th hole (Weiskopf). Aiden Curtis (Mentor) finished second place with a score of (48). Aiden was down by 4 shots after 5 hole and came the last hole only one behind. Hamilton and Aiden tied the last hole with 6.

Matt Blumenthal recieved his Hole-One-In plaque for his his ace at Black Brook GC on July 14.

The Denny Spaulding Golf Scholarship was won by James O’Neill for his outstanding application to the selection committee. James stands out on many levels, but his GPA, golf resume, piano skills and plans for college were viewed by the committee as the one worthy of the award. We’d also like to thank the other applicants, it was a tough decision to only choose one. The $1,500 scholarship is part of the Spaulding’s Family commitment to our junior golfers and we’d like to thank them for their support!
