Jim Dawson Match Play & Qualifier

This event has great history and has always been one of the funniest events on tour. There are three ways to enter the Jim Dawson Match Play, but you only need to do one to enter.

  • Enter the Match Play Qualifier at Manakiki, this is the preferred method for non-exempt players. You must first register for the Manakiki event, then you can add-on the qualifier. Your score from the Manakiki event will earn you a proper placement in the bracket. No other entry is needed once you enter the qualifier.
  • Exempt players (prior champions and such are listed on the info page), you enter directly in the Jim Dawson Match Play on June 27-28.
  • If you can’t or didn’t play in the Manakiki Qualifier, then you can enter directly into the Match play event on June 27-28. You will be seeded based on spots open and average score.

Please take note, that once you enter any one of these methods you are in the Match Play event. Do not enter both, that’s a double entry. All qualifiers will make the field and the bracket will be posted once the bracket is full or it could be a few days before the event if spots remain open.

The JB Four-Ball (Last Call)

We have a great field stacking up for the The JB Four-Ball (Wednesday, June 22). If you haven’t got your entry in yet, please do so by Monday evening, June 20, 2022. A Four-Ball is the better ball of two players for each hole. It’s the most popular team format in golf! You can pick your own partner and play in this super fun competition at Quail Hollow CC (Concord, OH).

Team Make-up – It’s very open to anyone ever affiliated with the North Coast Junior Tour. It’s a popular event for former players and even our older Alumni (some 40ish in age…hard to believe). Current NCJT players can team up or grab another golfing buddy from their club to make-up a team. As long as ONE player was affiliated with NCJT, they are eligible to bring any level of “ringer” they would like. Father-son teams are also popular at the Four-Ball. Bottomline, don’t miss this one… it’s a great day!

Once you sign-up, please email who you are partnering with to tmilam@ncjt.org.

Boys 16-19

Domenic Pilla (Highland Hts) won the Boys 16-19 division with a 40-37–77 on a hot and humid day at Tanglewood. Domenic played solid with 3 birdies. He got off to a good start on the back, making back to back birdies on holes 10 and 11. Domenic went on to make a streak of pars to close out the victory. Dylan Feldkamp (Mentor) finished second with 41-37–78. Dylan started his round with back to back birdies, but played 7 over for the last 6 on his front nine. Dylan played strong on the back nine, he was driving it long and flagged a bunch of irons for birdie putts. He was only a few missed putts from putting together a real nice round. Kona Ice Truck – tomorrow in Willoughby

Please stop tomorrow (Thursday, June 9) from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM for a FREE Kona Ice

Gale’s Garden Center, 2730 Som Center Road, Willoughby Hills, OH 44094

The event is being hosted by David Kahn and his family. David is a NCJT Hall of Fame member and a golf course architect. Jackson Kahn Design has completed over $600 million in projects and some big name project to boot. David and his family have a passion to help find a cure for Batten, a disease that both of his young daughters have. It’s sad but their ForeBatten Foundation has made amazing strides with the disease. We have many supportive families on the junior tour and we hope you can stop by tomorrow to show your support. Stan and Marlena Kahn will be hosting this event. Stan is an old golfing buddy of mine and Marlena work on the junior tour for many years during and after David played. You will really enjoy meeting the Kahn’s, some of the nicest people on earth. Enjoy and we hope to see a good NCJT contingent there.

Maxwell Moldovan (NCJT HOF) headed to US Open

Maxwell Moldovan (Uniontown, OH) qualified on Monday for the 122nd US Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. Maxwell  posted rounds of 66 – 69 = 135 (-5) at Springfield Country Club in Ohio to tied for 3rd. The field was loaded with PGA Tour players and Maxwell beat all but 2 of them to capture one of the 8 qualifing spots. Maxwell was inducted into the NCJT Hall of Fame in the Class of 2021 (last December). Since then he has won 3 collegiate events, he was named a 2022 PING All-American and has qualified for the US Open Championship. That’s quite a remarkable 6 months, to go along with all the other accomplishments he has had, which are truly incredible… and he has only just begun. Maxwell may be rewriting some record books over the next couple of decades.

Congratulations Maxwell and play well at the US Open!
