NCJT – Four-Ball and Match Play

Next week we have two big events on the schedule.

The JB Four-Ball Classic at Quail Hollow on June 23

The JB Four-Ball Classic is a true golf classic.  Current and Former NCJT players are eligible to make up a team.  It’s a scratch event with no handicaps.  Only one player on the two-man Four-Ball team needs to be an NCJT player or Alumni, the other player can be anyone at any age.  We are hoping to build a reunion style golf classic that will mingle players from the past with players of today.  This will create a great spirit of golf that will cultivate year after year.

This event is named in memory of the late Mr. Jim Brown (founder and owner of the Classic Auto Group).  Jim Brown (JB) has been a long time supporter of Greater Cleveland golf and the North Coast Junior Tour.  Many in our community have benefited from contributions made by the Brown Family and we are pleased to honor JB with an event that will bring together young and old.  The annual winners will be added to the JB Four-Ball Classic trophy, making it a prestigious award. This event includes golf, cart, a breakfast box, a steak dinner and awards. Cost is $110 per player. Shotgun start at 10:30am. For more details Click Here.

Jim Dawson Match Play – Qualifier at Manakiki on June 22

All players wanting to play in the Match Play, other than exempt players, should be signed up for the Match Play Qualifier at Manakiki on June 22. By playing in the Qualifier, your Manakiki score will seed you into the Match Play Bracket for the Jim Dawson Match Play on June 28-29 at Punderson. If you cannot play in the Qualifier at Manakiki, then you can take your chances and sign-up for the Jim Dawson Match Play directly, however you must hope the bracket doesn’t become full with qualifiers and exempt players. It’s likely it won’t, but that can happen and that would eliminate you from the tournament. Both the Qualifier and the Match Play Event Information pages clearly outline the registration process, so hopefully all the non-exempt entries currently in the Match Play directly understand the circumstances.

Things to know about the Match Play registration:

  • Only one registration is required, either the Qualifier at Manakiki or the Match Play at Punderson (exempt players only)
  • To play in the Qualifier, you must signup for both the Manankiki event and the Qualifier on June 22
  • Qualifiers advance to the Match Play at Punderson without an additional entry (you only play the $65 once for the Match Play)
  • If you have entered incorrectly, please email us before 4pm on June 21 and we’ll correct it for you

On Tuesday at Lost Nation – we broke 4 hour golf again

Twice in first three events we have broke the 4 hour golf mark with the last flagstick in-the-hole for the last group of the field on the final hole. At Punderson our final flag in time was 3 hours, 48 minutes and at Lost Nation it was 3 hours and 36 minutes. Every time we break the 4 hour mark with the last flag stick of the field, the whole field at the next event receives a pack of Skittles. We call it “Skittles for Skedaddlers”. So, all players at Signature of Solon get Skittles for the Lost Nation performance tomorrow. Last year we set the tour record with seven under 4 hour events. Based on the great start, 2021 maybe another record setting year!
