It’s been more than a month since the NCJT season ended, but golf has continued on for most of our players. We have been hearing great news about so many of our NCJT players during their high school season. NCJT helps juniors build an individual resume for college golf recruitment, but it also develops tournament players that are ready for school team golf. Over the next few weeks we are looking forward to hearing more great results from the sectional, district and state tournaments. Best of luck to all our NCJT players!
Looking Back at the 2016 Tour
#1 – Classic Cup Winners — The season long award for Player of the Year is the Classic Cup. Based on the points here are the 2016 Classic Cup winners;
Boys 16-19 – Victor Prokop (Willoughby Hills)
Boys 14-15 – Dylan Fitchet (Conneaut)
Boys 13&U – Nicholas Longano (Concord)
Girls 16-19 – Alexandra Stahler (Highland Hts)
Girls 15&U – Laine Hursh (Chardon)
The winners will receive the Classic Cup award for their achievement. Congratulations to all!
#2 – Daniel Berlin had the most amazing series of tournaments in tour history. His four rounds were 68-66-69-69, which is an average of 68. The first two rounds were played at Sand Ridge and amounted to a 10 under par finish. The second two were at Quail Hollow in the Tour Championship for a 4 under par total. Pretty amazing golf at any level! Great playing Daniel!
#3 – Photos — All the photos from the 2016 season are available for viewing at our tour media center. We didn’t have an intern this year, so we don’t have as many as in years past, but we still have some good ones to trigger some fond memories. If you want a copy of any of the photos, they can be downloaded at full resolution from the media center. Enjoy! Check out the one below, it’s one of our favorites!
#4 – Joe Haase Cup Team Photo —At the Joe Haase Cup we didn’t fair as well as we would have liked in the team competition, but we sure looked good. We should have an excellent team next year and can’t wait until next Mother’s Day for a shot to win the cup back.
#5 – Pace of Play — When you play NCJT golf, you know we are keeping you on pace. This year we averaged 4 hours and 14 minutes per tournament for last flag in. We broke the 4 hour mark twice and introduced our new Skittles for Skedaddlers reward program for the sub-4 hour golf achievement. Remember a good pace will keep you in rhythm to play your best golf, so learn to be a NCJT Skedaddler!
#6 – No Rain Delays, but Snow?? — It seemed like the hottest summer ever with hardly any rain. We were fortunate to avoid rain delays this year, however during the JB Junior Classic at Signature of Solon we were snowed out and had to reschedule for a week later. That was a first for NCJT!
Here’s what Mayfield CC looked like that day:
#7 – Our 25th Anniversary — Thank you for being a part of our 25th anniversary season. It was a great year on so many levels and we are very glad to have all the support to keep it going year after year. A special thanks to the Classic Auto Group and the Osborne Companies for supporting our junior golf efforts.
#8 – Who won the PGA golf pool?? — The winners of the PGA Championship golf pool were as follows:
1st – Michael Olson -49 ($60 tour credit)
2nd – Dylan Fitchett -46 ($30 tour credit)
#9 – Interns — For 2017 we are looking for 2 interns. One for tournament operations and one for media (photography and video). If you know anyone that would be interested, please have them contact Mr. Milam at tmilam@ncjt.org.
Once again we thank everyone for being with us for our 25th Anniversary and look forward to another exciting tour in 2017.
