The first leg of The Firecracker (OJS #6) kicked off at soggy Lake Forest. Lake Catholic’s own Nick Scharf fired the low score for the Boys Overall division at a 6 over par, 78. Scharf overcame a rocky start by making birdie on two of his final three holes. In the Girl’s Overall, Avery Ovens has a six shot lead going into the final round of the Osborn Junior Series. She was the only one of the girls who managed to break 100 at this difficult course. The final day of The Firecracker will be at Tam O’Shanter on Wednesday, July 1.
In the single day event at Lake Forest, Brett Dubin fired the low round of 75 in the Boys 16-19. He played consistant all day, with only six bogies to go along with his three birdies. Ben Foltz came out on top with an 80, to win the Boys 14-15 division. Foltz managed to scramble for pars on the back thanks to his twelve putts. Bryce Shahan was the low man for the Boys 13 & under at 88. He managed the conditions very well to win by three shots. Karly Morell needed only 28 putts to shoot 91 and win the Girls 16-19 age group by three. Tough soggy conditions dominated the day causing higher scores than normal!
