NCJT players are leading the way to district tournaments this fall. Congratulations to all the North Coast Junior Tour players listed below!
Division I Boys at Quail Hollow: Austin Adams (72), Nick Scharf (73), Kyle Horvath (75) posted low numbers for Lake Catholic (305) to take 1st place at the Quail Hollow Sectional. Riverside (314) took second; Eric Jeddy (74), Matt Thomas (79), Brian Irish (80), Anthony Julius (81), Stephen Dolan (83). Will Taber (80), David Samar (82), Derek Stamberger (86) helped University School advance as a team. Daniel Hirsh posted (75) for Shaker Hts who also advanced as a team. Matt Forrai (79), Nolan Jurcago (80) and Seth Fluhart (81) advanced as individuals.
Division I Boys at Sweetbriar: Owen Miklos (74) and Zach Morris (73) helped St. Ignatius take 1st place at the Sweetbriar sectional with a team score of 292.
Division II Boys at Quail Hollow: Will Widman (78), Daniel Berlin (76), Joe Vinci (80) helped Chagrin Falls take 1st place. Justin Hollis (75), Tom Negrelli (79), and Ben Foltz (83) helped Gilmour take 2nd place. Reese Thaler (77), Adam Marcus (83), and Max Lebowitz (85) had nice rounds to help Orange qualify in 3rd place.
Other Highlights: Kaylee Neumeister (77) lead Lakeview to the Division II sectional title at Punderson. NDCL also advanced to districts lead by Reva Morris (76) and Olivia Jereb (85). Nolan Laughlin (73) posted an awesome score to lead Hudson to the sectional title at Windmill Lakes, Dave Sexton (81) also played well.
Super News: Derek Stamberger and his father (John) enjoyed a rare moment together. They both had Hole-In-One’s on the same day (August 6th, 2014). Derek got his on #10 (142 yards) at Madison Country Club and John holed his on #11 at Stonewater Golf Club (197 yards). Talk about the stars aligning!
Nick Scharf of Lake Catholic won Player of the Week honors by the Plain Dealer in August.
