(Disclaimer. The following story is a fictitous account. Zack Snyder is a fine young man and lover of all of God’s creatures)
In a rapidly developing story regarding the senseless assassination of a local goose, an anonymous whistleblower has come forward with testimony that directly contradicts Zack Snyder’s claim that his broken and projectiled club head played no part in the demise of the goose. The goose has now been identified as Brampton, Ontario resident “Carl” who summered at Quail Hollow Golf Resort and Planned Community since 2016.
According to the whistleblower, who we will call “Ethan O” to protect his anonymity, Snyder not only caused the death of the goose, but orchestrated the attack well in advance of the event. Said Ethan, “I warmed up next to Zack on the range and he was muttering about a goose that he thought was mocking him after a bad shot during his warm-up.” Ethan continued, “At one point, he went back to his bag and seemed like he was sawing his golf club near the head, I mean, seriously, I’ve heard of driver heads coming off, but an iron? That’s intentional.” When the twosome got to the third hole, Snyder had his chance for revenge and took it, according to the whistleblower. “He had crazy eyes, I’ve never seen him like that before.” While video of the event is not available, below is an artistic recreation.
Alleged goose assassin Snyder could not be reached for comment, we assume he has fled the area.
Riding the momentum of a first score of two-under par that included a walk-off eagle on 18, Michael Fahey (Wadsworth) won the overall championship with rounds of 69-82–151. While his game wasn’t as crisp in round two on The Weiskopf Course at Quail Hollow Country Club, Fahey was able to hold off a charging Zack Snyder (Avon). Snyder (78-74-152) was in position to force a playoff after back to back birdies on 15 and 16 but bogied the final hole preserving the 1 shot win for Fahey. Fahey’s round included birdies on holes 6, 12 and 15 but opened the door for the field with back to back triple bogeys on holes 8 and 9. In the end, Fahey steadied the ship and closed his round playing the last 7 holes at 1 over par. Andrew Engler (Mentor) had 2 birdies and his second eagle of the tournament on the Weiskopf course in round 2 to finish 3rd with 80-76–156.
Tour Championship – Boys 15 & Under
I’ll take a Championship Tugeau Please!
(L to R) Siko, Chluda, Tugeau
Harrison Tugeau (Cleveland Heights) had 81-78–159 to win the Boys 15 and under division. Harrison had 4 birdies over the 36-hole competition. First round leader Luke Chluda (Hudson) was 2nd with 78-83–161. Liam Siko (Mentor) was 3rd with 93-73–166.
Tour Championship – Girls 19 & Under
Varga Repeats!
Elena Varga (Hudson) repeats as champion of the Girls 19 & Under division with 77-83–160. Elena had an uncharacteristic second nine in oppressive heat at Quail. Her 160 finish was one stroke better than her championship total of 1 year ago. Keira Chang (Chagrin Falls) was 2nd with 83-84–167.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025 the 9th Annual JR-4AM Scholarship Golf Classic was hosted at Quail Hollow CC (Devlin). Dominik Cosic (Concord) had 35-32-67 (-4) to win the Junior Stroke Play Medalist. Dominik had six birdies. Ryan Creech (Chesterland) had 36-37-73 to claim 2nd place honors. Ryan had 4 birdies on his round.
The team event was won by Nick Adams, Nolan Adams, Christian Lazuka and Nick Longano. Nolan and Nick are former NCJT superstars and both played college golf. The Adams Team shot 27-29–56 (-15) in a scramble format to capture the team title. They defeated the usually unbeatable Tomazic Team by 2 strokes.
The Denny Spaulding Scholarship winner for 2025 was Lincoln Miller (Concord).
Wednesday’s round was for the birds, literally. On a day of firsts, round one of The 2025 NCJT Tour Championship took on an aviary vibe as 17 players vied for championship hardware on the Devlin Course at Quail Hollow Country Club in Concord. The day saw 25 birdies, three eagles and the inexplicable demise of a goose (RIP). More on that later.
In Boys 16 to 19 action, Michael Fahey (Wadsworth) posted the only round in red and he did so by way of a walk-off eagle on the par 4 18th hole. His approach from 125 yards out found the bottom of the cup and put the end cap on a 2 under par round of 69. Fahey blistered the back nine with a pair of birdies to accompany the eagle against a lone blemish, a bogey on the 12th. His back nine of 3 under 32 was a personal best. Fahey has a comfortable lead heading into day two with two players sitting tied for second. Sammie Heiser (Pepper Pike) and Zack Snyder (Avon) share that designation with matching rounds of 78.
The Boys 15 and Under age group had fewer fireworks but solid play overall. Luke Chluda (Hudson) paced the group with a seven-over-par round of 78 (41-37). Chluda’s round featured just 5 pars, but 4 birdies that kept him ahead of the competition. Harrison Tugeau (Cleveland Heights) nearly matched Chluda 2ith 3 birdies, he’s three strokes back after going 38-43–81.
Elena Varga (Hudson) is your first round leader in Girls 19 and Under action. The always steady Varga posted a 6 over par round of 40-37–77, with a birdie on the par 5 14th. Varga leads Keira Chang (Chagrin Falls) by six heading into Thursday final round on the Weiskopf Course. The highlight of the day in girls’ action came by way of Chang’s playing partner, Angela Kerwood (Concord Twp) who chipped in from 20 yards on the par 5th fifth hole, her first eagle in competition.
Now, back to the goose. Ethan Olszowy (Avon) and Zack Snyder (Avon) had a third hole not to be soon forgotten. The excitement started with Snyder breaking his iron on his second shot, with the club head traveling nearly 80 yards into the right rough. Now this is where things get cloudy. In a scene normally reserved for Stephen King movies, a goose dropped out of the sky and landed near Olszowy, lying motionless and presumably dead. Said Olszowy, “I heard a screech, and it just dropped in front of me.” Snyder does insist that his club head did not strike the goose.
FAKE NEWS ALERT. Local authorities declined comment pending further investigation but did confiscate Snyder’s passport and access to bank accounts. The identity of the goose has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. A gofundme account is pending in support of the deceased’s gosling. Services and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Andrew Engler (Mentor) shot 37-38–75 to win the Boys 16-19 division at the friendly confines of a Mentor staple, Black Brook. Andrew was steady on a day when the conditions were anything but. Swirling and gusty winds wreaked havoc for much of the field, but not for Engler who had 3 birdies on the day. Another Mentorite? Mentorian? Mentite? walked onto the 17th tee with a chance to win or tie, but gusts pushed Dom Luvison’s (Mentor) approach into the water leading to a double bogey leaving him 2 shots back of Engler 34-40–77.
Boys 15 & Under – Pinney Dominates the Week
Carter Pinney (Hunting Valley) made tough conditions look easy in capturing his second NCJT title in as many days. Pinney book ended 8 pars with 4 birdies and 4 bogies in posting the low round of the day, an even par round of 36-35–71. A runner-up a day ago, Aiden Curtis (Mentor) had matching nines of 41-41–82 to finish 2nd. Curtis carded two birdies on the day.
Girls 19 & Under – Kerwood…good!
Angela Kerwood (Concord Twp) had her low round of the tour season with 42-41–83 to win the Girls 19 & Under division. Kerwood came close to acing the par 3 17th in closing her last four holes at 1 under par to claim the Champions Trophy. Kerwood finished ahead of Lily Mitchell (Mentor) who posted a 47-45–92 on her home course.
North Coast Junior Tour – Black Brook 7/17/2025 – Black Brook Golf Course & Practice Center Par 71, 6320 Yards
Ty Roediger (Chardon), along with his group of Will Mylen (Cleveland Heights) and Will Cody (Shaker Heights) played 18 holes at Chardon Lakes like their hair was on fire. The leading threesome teed it up just before 8am, made the turn at 9:15am and had the clubs back in the trunk before 11am, a 2 hour and 50 minute round which left them wondering, “is it too early to eat a hotdog?” (btw, it’s never too early to eat a hotdog) The fast pace benefited Ty over the rest of the field as he claimed victory with a score of two-over-par (38-35) 73. His two birdies on the back nine, contributed to a two stroke win over Andrew Engler (Mentor) 39-36–75.
Boys 15 & Under – Pinney Survives
Carter Pinney (Hunting Valley)(34-40–74) started fast, stumbled late but held on to win the boys 13 to 15 age division at Chardon Lakes. Starting his round with two straight birdies had Carter on 59 watch. Steady play for the bulk of his round was interrupted by a hiccup on 17, a double bogey left him just one shot ahead of clubhouse leader, Aiden Curtis (Mentor) (40-35–75). Curtis, who’s been on a tear as of late, had three birdies over his last 7 holes, but a bogey on the same 17th made the difference as Pinney parred 18 to claim the Champions trophy.
Girls 19 & Under – Miller Cruises
Sam Miller (Solon) came out hot, birdieing her first hole enroute to a trophy grabbing 48-45–93.Taylor Wallingford (Concord) finished second in the age group, the second straight year that she’s finished runner up at Chardon Lakes.

Cooper Wierzchowski (Erie, PA) (pronounced Wizcowski) shot 76-70–146 to win the Boys 16-19 division at the 2025 Sand Ridge Junior Invitational. Wierzchowski blistered the sun scorched layout with four second round birdies to post the only red numbered score of the day. Cooper started the day by bracketing a second hole bogey with birdies on one and three. A bogey on the challenging par four 9th had him turning in an even par 36. On the back, patience paid off as 5 straight pars set the stage for 2 birdies over his last four holes to come in at 2 under par 34. Wierzchowski finished comfortably ahead of his former high school teammate Connor Laird (Fairview, PA), besting his friend by 3 shots, (76-73–149). Laird posted 4 birdies, 2 doubles and a bogey for a 1 over par 73. Third place saw a tie between high school teammates, Chase Recio (Fairview, PA – 76-75–151) and first round leader Anthony Laboda (Fairview, PA – 71-80–151) with Recio claiming the tie breaker by way of a lower 2nd nine score (35). Laboda seemed to be in control through 27 holes, sitting at 2 under par overall and leading by as many as 5 strokes. But some uncharacteristic lost balls on the back nine allowed the field to catch and surpass him.
Boys 15 & Under – It’s Miller Time
(L-R: P. Recio 3rd, Curtis 2nd, Miller 1st)
Lukas Miller (Titusville, PA) fired a 81-84–165 to win the Boys 15 & Under division. Miller posted matching nines of 42 to claim the trophy. Miller, a regular on the greatlakes tour, added to a crowded trophy case that has seen at least 10 victories on the summer. Miller finished well ahead of runner-up Aiden Curtis (Mentor) who improved three strokes from his first round total (91-88–179). Finishing third in the division was upcoming 6th grader, Penn Recio (Fairview, PA – 88-94–182).
Girls 19 & Under – Varga Cruises to Victory.
(L-R: Leet 3rd, Jawa 2nd, Varga 1st)
Elena Varga (Hudson) shot twin rounds of 80-80–160 to capture the Girls 19 & under division. After playing the first 12 holes two over par, Varga decided to make things a bit interesting by playing 13 thru 16 a total of 6 over. Calmer waters marked the end of her round as two pars helped her secure a 4 shot victory over first round co-leader Saijal Jawa (Highland Heights – 80-84–164). Finishing third in the division was the player who traveled the greatest distance to compete in the event, Payten Leet (Bradford, PA – 171 miles from Chardon) who finished 10 strokes off the pace (83-87–170).
